Join Our Volunteer Team!

At Vanclaron CIC, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. We support refugees, asylum seekers, and global majority communities across Nottingham through free English (ESOL) classes, creative wellbeing activities, and dedicated community support.

Whether you want to give back, gain practical experience, or meet new people, we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and skill levels, no prior experience is needed!

Volunteering Roles

Help our community members build confidence in English in a relaxed, encouraging environment tailored to three skill levels:

Beginner & Intermediate: Help teach foundational English, vocabulary, and grammar. (No teaching degree required—we provide pre-planned lesson guides!)
Advanced: Lead informal, interactive conversation groups to practice everyday speaking and fluency.
What you'll do: Guide group activities, offer gentle support, and help learners build practical skills at their own pace.
Time commitment: Main sessions run for about an hour (plus a little setup time beforehand), with flexible scheduling.
Location: Radford, Nottingham.

Help us host creative workshops and community gatherings that bring people together, reduce isolation, and boost mental health.

What you’ll do: Help set up event spaces, welcome attendees with a warm smile, assist with simple art or wellbeing activities, and collect casual participant feedback.
No experience needed: Just enthusiasm, a welcoming attitude, and a desire to bring people together!
Time commitment: Flexible around scheduled events and workshops. Help out for a single event or join us on a regular basis.
Location: Radford, Nottingham

Help secure vital funding and develop creative ideas to keep our free community programs running.

Grant Research & Opportunities: Help identify, research, and track suitable trust, foundation, and local grant opportunities that align with our community projects.
Proposal & Bid Support: Assist our team in gathering details, drafting responses, and preparing application materials for grant bids.
Community Fundraising Ideas: Brainstorm and help organize local fundraising events, campaigns, or digital initiatives to raise awareness and support.
Time commitment: Highly flexible! Main tasks can often be done remotely or at our center, fitting around your schedule.
Location: Hybrid / Radford, Nottingham.

Our Volunteer Process

We want to make getting started with us simple and clear. Here is what to expect when you apply:

1. Complete & Submit Your Application

Download our application document, complete your details, and email it back to our team as directed on the form.

2. Introductory Conversation

We'll invite you for a short 15-minute conversation (in person or online) to introduce ourselves, answer any questions you have, and make sure the role fits your schedule.

3. Welcome & Induction

Before your first shift, we'll walk you through everything you need to know, introduce you to the team, and hand over all pre-prepared materials.

4. Start Volunteering!

Join your first session, shadow our experienced team, and start making a real impact in Nottingham.
