The importance of self-care and small acts of kindness
At the request of service users, Vanclaron staff have been delivering self-care sessions for women living in Asylum Centres which operate from hotels. This has mainly involved doing face masks, putting on make-up, hair styling and giving each other manicures. Nail painting in particular has been a big hit and so, Vanclaron managed to gather together a small number of donations of nail polish, nail files and nail polish remover to be able to leave these at the hotel for the women to enjoy in their own time. Thanks to these donations, women at this hotel have reported feeling more confident, less depressed and more like their true selves all because of this small gesture, a testament to the fact that a little kindness really can go a long way.
